Welcome to the Greener
Silver End Community Homepage
The
Greener Silver End group was set up to address two environmental issues which the
Parish Plan survey (in 2009) which showed that local people care about:
1) Protecting the
village’s ‘Garden City’ legacy
2) Making homes more
energy efficient
On
the ‘Garden City’ side we are now working, with Braintree Council on plans to improve
three green spaces in the village:
- · A shady picnic area and 'community walk of fame' in
the Memorial Gardens
- · A Community Woodland off Temple Lane
- · Improved Verges in Boars Tye Road
We
hope local people will get involved in these projects by telling us what you
think. Questionnaires are being
delivered to all houses in th village or you can complete it online at:
http://www.braintree.gov.uk/Braintree/environment/Greener+Silver+End.htm
This
consultation ends on 15th November, after that we will have an open
meeting where people can have their say in finalising the plans.
There’s
a lot we can do on energy efficiency too. We want to get a Community
Carbon Footprint of the village: this would give us a picture of how much
energy we use and then look at ways to reduce it. You can help by
logging on here and starting your own Carbon Footprint.
The
Greener Silver End group is just starting: there are lots of things we can do
to build on Silver End’s green legacy.
The more people who get involved, the more we can do. Why not get in
touch and see how you can help (Tel. 01376 583477)?
