Experts at helping you to understand and report on the impact that your carbon reduction programmes are achieving.
The Energy Saving Trust has an independent evaluation unit that has 15 years experience of monitoring and evaluating carbon reduction programmes and policies.
With UK and European recognition, we are experts at assessing and quantifying the impact and benefits of carbon reduction initiatives. We specialise in evaluating initiatives aimed at the consumer, covering a wide range of environmental activities such as energy efficiency, microgeneration, water, waste and business transport. We also have experience in the communities and SME sector.
We offer flexible ways of working with you and the ability to tailor services specific to your needs.
Verification and benchmarking of results
We provide organisations with a clear means of demonstrating that their overall evaluation methodologies, results generated and environmental claims are verified by the impartial and trusted authority of the Energy Saving Trust.
We independently review the methodology, analysis and reporting of evaluation results in line with established best practice. We verify the savings data used and validate and benchmark the evaluation results generated.
Organisations using this service will be eligible to use the ‘Verified by Energy Saving Trust’ logo to reassure customers that the organisation has invested in independent verification of their evaluation by the Energy Saving Trust.
Evidence of impact and benefits
Whether reporting against corporate targets or communicating benefits to customers we provide you with an assessment of the impact and benefits your carbon reduction activities have achieved. We combine our evaluation skills and technical sustainable energy knowledge to quantify impacts such as behaviour change, installed energy efficiency measures/product choices and calculate energy, CO2 and financial savings.
Customer satisfaction and experience
We help you to track customer satisfaction, acquisition and retention as a result of carbon reduction activities. We use our knowledge of customer engagement activities to help you understand how the customer experience effects impact and benefits achieved.
Self help tools to help you monitor and evaluate
We work with you to develop tools and templates tailored to your needs so you can carry out monitoring and evaluation in-house. We design methodologies, with supporting data, to create surveys and frameworks to collect and analyse data to help you understand your impact.
Evaluation design and delivery
We design and deliver evaluations from impact assessments to process reviews. We offer the full range of quantitative and qualitative research. The team has extensive knowledge of measuring energy efficiency and behaviour change programmes and know the most effective ways of designing methodologies. Our skilled researchers have experience in carrying out large scale consumer surveys and in-depth stakeholder qualitative research.
We can help you with specific elements of your evaluation or carry out full independent assessments of the impact of your activities.
Understanding added value
We understand the need to provide evidence of the direct effects of a specific initiative. We are specialised at attributing impact and determining added value as a result of an organisation, campaign or activity. We have own bespoke methodology that can help you understand the impact of your work. We provide an understanding of return on investment and cost effectiveness.
Case studies of our work:
EU BEHAVE
The Energy Saving Trust was a partner in the EU BEHAVE project which aimed to improve the impact of energy-related behavioural change programmes and projects in the household sector, by learning from programmes and projects and disseminating knowledge to policy makers and programme-managers.
London Development Agency, No.1 Low Carbon Drive
The evaluation determined the effectiveness and impact of an LDA show home used at public events to demonstrate energy efficient products and provide energy efficiency advice.
Energy Saving Trust Local Authority and Housing Association services
The evaluation determined the overall impact delivered as a result of the service offering to local authorities and housing associations and identified strengths and weaknesses of services for future service improvement.
EU Life + Pilot Evaluation
The pilot aims to deliver water advice and associated energy advice. The evaluation aims to determine the effectiveness of the delivery of advice to inform future roll out of advice programmes and to understand the impact in terms of behavioural change for both small behaviours (eg. turning off taps) and installation behaviours (eg. shower devices).
